BCS ORDER OF WORSHIP

Worship in Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is a moment of Spiritual devotion exaltation, adoration and    glorification. Members of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star fulfils a very important aspect of Religious sacrement, were God in his spiritual nature is seen and worship in His anthropomophic nature, bringing to pass that which is written in the Holy Scripture:

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. (Revelation 7:15)

ORDER OF BAPTISM

 

  • Reading of First Step to God to the New Converts.
  • Reading of other Suitable bible portions on baptism such as; John3:5-6, Romans 6:3-, Mark 16:16-18, Mark1:5-11, 1 peter 1:23, Galatians 2:26-28 (for the advice of the convert(s) by the officiating priest text such as these are read: 1 John 1:7-10, James 5:16, Mark1:5 etc.
  • Prayer by the Officiating Priest to the new convert
  • Procession to the river or pool for baptism with spiritual choruses such as these
    1. “Now let us go to Jordan…
    2. “In water I have been baptised with…
  • The Officiating Priest takes his stand in the river
  • Prayer by a member (if any)
  • Prayer by the Officiating Priest inside the river

ORDER OF BIBLE CLASS

     

  • Everything we do in Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is exactly as was done by our lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord knew that the Jews had conspired to arrest and kill him on Thursday. He then decided to eat the last supper with his disciples on Wednesday night. Before the Last Supper, he gathered them and taught them. That is what we do in BCS today. The greatest experience anyone can have is attending a bible class lectures given by the supernatural teacher (Leader Olumba Olumba Obu) himself. It is in these lectures that the secret of Heaven and Earth and the true meaning of the scriptures are revealed by him.

    The sole spiritual head has decreed that bible class and watch and pray be conducted in all BCS bethels on Wednesday Evenings and fasting on Thursdays no matter the attendance. Bible class should also hold on Saturday evenings. 

                               The following order should be observed during bible class lectures.

      1. Psalm one (to be recited by all)
      2. Hymn (from the BCS Hymn Book
      3. Prayer- by a member
      4. Bible text
      5. Lessons drawn from the text by individuals. (The Priest gives room for individuals to draw lessons and explain what they understand by them).

      10. The lord’s prayer
      11. Doxology- “Come Holy Spirit of God...”
      12. Benediction

ORDER OF CHILD BLESSING (8th Day After Birth)

 

  • The family of the child kneels before the altar
  • A sister carried the child to be blessed
  • Reading of 1st bible lesson: Luke 2:22
  • Anthem by choir(s) or hymn 429 from Brotherhood Hymn Book to be sung if there is no child to be blessed.
  • Prayer by 2 sisters, 2 brothers standing behind the family of the child to be blessed.
  • Blessing song (hymn 427 from BCS Hymn Book) to be sung by all while kneeling till the end of the child blessing.
  • The officiating priest comes out from the pulpit to the altar.
  • The child is represented to the priest by the sister for blessing. She kneels beside the altar till the child is handed back to her.
  • Blessing of the child:
    1. Place the child on the alter
    2. Sprinkle holy water on the face.
    3. Rub Holy oil and make the sign of cross on the forehead, hands and legs of child.
    4. The child is turn unto the four corners of the world with silent sanctification (item 9 b to d continue each time the child is turned)
  • The child is given Holy water to drink
  • Raise and point the child to the four corners of the world, and give it back to the sister who should return to her seat before the altar.
  • The officiating priest goes back to the pulpit
  • Second lesson: Ephesians 6:1-4. Golden text: 1st timothy 2:15
  • Brief advise by the officiating priest to the family
  • 1st Spiritual Chorus. ”Eyen erong uwa”
  • 2nd spiritual chorus: ”Eyen amana ono nnyin”
  • Everybody dances and files past the altar back to his/her seat.
  • Issuing of infant blessing certificate by the conductor to the parent of the child.

  • Daily Morning Prayer is observed in all Bethels of Brotherhood of the cross and star both in the Healing Homes and Pentecostal Centres by 5.00am. No activity should disrupt this order.

  • Full services are held on Pentecostal centres during Pentecostal periods and on fellowships week long activities. On Bethels levels, Sunday Mornings/Evenings and Fridays are observed as full service.

  •   In BCS, We regard Thursday as important day being the day our lord Jesus Christ was crucified. All Brotherhood members commemorate His sufferings and passions on that day by fasting from 6.am to 6pm. He was condemned to death at 6 am; crucified on the cross at 9 am. He gave up the ghost at 3 pm. He was brought down from the cross at 6pm. The Three Days and Three Nights Were As Follows:-

    6am - 6pm of Thursday     – 1st Day
    6pm - 6am of Friday           – 1st Night
    6am - 6pm of Friday           – 2nd Day
    6pm - 6am of Saturday      – 2nd Night

ORDER OF WORSHIP DURING WEDNESDAY WATCH AND PRAY

 

  • After our lord Jesus Christ finished admonishing, instructing and teaching his disciples, He washed their feet and ate the last super with them. He knew the hour of his betrayal was at hand and he began to be sorrowful and heavy at heart. He stayed awake crying. This lasted for three hours from midnight to 3 am and he asked his disciples to watch and pray with him. At 3 am the Jews (led by Judas) came and arrested him. As directed by the Sole Spiritual Head, Members of BCS observed Watch and Pray every Wednesday from Midnight to3am.
